2017 was the sort of year that winemakers dream of. During the hot, dry summer weeks, the grapes developed incredible ripeness with a lot of density and a compact body. Alongside 2015, 2017 is certainly the best year of the decade.

Loamy soils provide our Merlot vines with the necessary nutrient and water supply, even in the dry 2017, and give this wine it's striking power. The vines are located around Deutschkreutz in Central Burgenland.

After a long, intensive contact with the mash, the grapes were pressed. The wine was then stored in large oak barrels until it was filled in July 2020. It was aged further in the bottle and released for sale two years later. Thanks to its concentration, this wine has a very long development potential.

You'll find this Merlot pairs well with so many foods. Our family loves it with chicken and other light meats as well as lightly-spiced dark meats. The vegetarians among us love our Merlot with precisely roasted vegetables.
